1. Check the admission requirements before you start your application.
2. Create, complete and submit your application before the deadline in Studielink and VUnet by following the steps of the application procedure.
3. Follow up on your application progress: after submitting your complete application in VUnet, the International Office will confirm receipt of your application within a few days. If there are any documents missing and/or further information is needed, you will be contacted by your International Student Advisor or the International Support Officer. Please also keep an eye on your spam folder as emails may sometimes end up there.
4. Receive the decision on admission:
Note that during holiday times and closer to the deadline dates the decision time is longer than in slower periods. Keep this in mind in planning when to submit your application.
5. If you are (conditionally) admitted, you will be asked to accept your offer and complete your admission by following the outlined steps.
For students who wish to apply for accommodation via the university an early application is recommended, as housing options are assigned on a first paid, first served basis.
Log in to Studielink and create a new enrollment application for the study programme you wish to apply for. You can choose "Log in without DigiD" if you live outside of the Netherlands.
Only if you are already living in the Netherlands, you will need to log in with a DigiD. If you do not yet have one, you will have to apply for a DigiD first. DigiD applications take up to two weeks.

After you complete your application request in Studielink you will receive your login details for VUnet, the university's student portal. This information consists of a VUnet-ID username and a password sent in two separate e-mails to the e-mail address you entered in Studielink. This may take up to two working days.
In VUnet you can answer study-specific questions and choose - if applicable - the specialisation of your programme. In your application you can also upload the required documents in PDF-format and complete your application.
We advise you to complete and submit your application in VUnet directly after applying in Studielink.

If you wish to keep your application active and be considered for admission to the programme you applied for, make sure to submit your application within 8 weeks after creating your Studielink account.
Please note: you do not have to send original documents when applying! For the application phase uploading scans of your previous education documents is sufficient.
You only need to send a certified paper copy of your diploma once you are admitted, by which time you will receive more information about the next steps.
All students seeking admission to an English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s programme with an international degree are required to pay a non-refundable €100 application fee. Only after you have paid this fee will we be able to start the assessment of your application file. Please do not delay paying the fee as this will delay your application.
Only in the following situations will you not have to pay the application fee:
Do you meet one of the criteria mentioned above? Then please send us an email with your student number + the reason you qualify for a fee exemption, so we can process this for you. Note that we may ask you to send proof to support this.
Before arranging the payment of the application fee, you first need to confirm your programme application by answering some questions and submitting the required documents in the VUnet student portal. After completing the programme application, the online payment tool will become available and you will be able to arrange the payment of the application fee with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. After you have arranged your payment online you will receive a confirmation e-mail, and the payment status will change to ‘PAID’*.
If you do not wish to arrange your payment online you can also make a bank transfer using the following bank details:

Please state your name and S+student number (e.g. s1234567) in the payment reference. Any banking costs are to be paid by the applicant. Please note that international transfers can take some time to be processed.
*Please note that the confirmation e-mail and status change apply only to the successful completion of the online payment module, not the actual payment.
Once your file is complete, the International Office will confirm receipt of your complete application. If there are any documents missing and/or further information is needed, you will be contacted by your International Student Advisor.
The admission decision will be communicated to you via e-mail within the specified timeline.
All information regarding your application will be sent to your Studielink registered email address. It is the applicant's responsibility to check their inbox regularly, including the spam folder.
